Some of you already have your dream room that’s full of Husker memorabilia, photos, jerseys, etc. Some people will pump a ton of money into their cave to create the ultimate miniature sports museum. 
On this edition of the Doc Talk Podcast presented by Betfred Sports, we have a conversation with Jerry Quickel. Jerry and Dr. Rob are connections on Twitter. Jerry got a lot of attention when he put all the helmets he owns in his front yard. There are over 400! New helmets arrive daily, and he keeps making room for them in his basement. These full-sized helmets span the NFL, USFL, NCAA (all divisions), NAIA, and Junior Colleges.
How does one get all these helmets? How does one store all these helmets? Are there any helmets he doesn’t have? We answer all these questions in our interview.
Big 12 Media Days are in the books. The SEC Media Days are going on as we recorded this edition.  The Big 12 and PAC 12 have stopped talking.  The SEC says it’s steady with 16 teams and not looking to expand right now. So now what? A lot of wait-and-see.  Keep in mind we recorded this on Monday, July 18. After we were done, Notre Dame announced it would stay independent if it could get $ 75 million yearly from its NBC deal. Right now, the Irish bring in $22 million from the Peacock Network from their current deal.

Come on, who doesn’t love Dairy Queen Ice Cream? We get into the subject towards the end of the episode.
On this week’s Doc Talk Podcast presented by Betfred Sports, Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice pick up the conversation where they left off last week.  Conference realignment. Nothing monumental has happened since USC and UCLA announced plans to bolt for the Big 10 but there are tremors and more change in the college football landscape is not a matter of if, but when.
All eyes are on Notre Dame, it is the golden ticket for both the Big Ten and the SEC. If the Irish choose to join a conference it could mean game, set, and match in the race for the almighty dollar and CFB supremacy. 
But Notre Dame isn’t the only school at play here. The SEC is looking to expand and the schools being mentioned are:
Clemson
Florida State
North Carolina
Virginia
All from the ACC.  But where does this leave Miami? Does the “U” have enough clout to get invited to the Big Boys Club? 
Do a combined PAC-12 and Big 12 move the needle and provide any value to TV networks that are even a comparison to the SEC and Big 10?  I think we know the answer to that.

What a week for the Big 10 Conference! The college football landscape as we know it continues to experience seismic shifts. Starting in 2024, the Big 10 will stretch from sea to shining sea with the addition of USC and UCLA. 
When the news dropped, the entire world seemed shocked at the major coup Big 10 Commissioner Kevin Warren pulled off. However, if you went back almost a year ago, we discussed the possibility of it happening right here on the podcast.

John recently officiated a 15-year-old AAU basketball game with his son when a player and a coach verbally assaulted him. Travis was recently a guest on the No Block, No Rock Podcast. He told some good stories about his time covering Nebraska football, including when Coach Tom Osborne called him upset about a commentary that he had done. 
Travis also sparked a nerve with many fans when he said NIL money for high school recruits was a big gamble. Dr. Rob and Travis dig in deeper to comment to understand what was said fully. It's a good debate that ends in some agreement.

Lots to cover and lots to drink in the latest edition of the Doc Talk Podcast. We know a lot of you are sick and tired of us talking about NIL which is now really just pay for play. The NCAA is now considering action against teams that a blatantly breaking the rules and setting standards for NIL moving forward. But is now the time to do it? NCAA President Mark Emmert announced he was stepping down. Under the leadership of Emmert, the NCAA in our opinion and that of many others has been a complete joke! Should the NCAA wait for a new President to take action or should it reign in what is currently out of control? 
Nebraska gets slapped on the hand by the NCAA. Really? We have players getting million-dollar deals and fancy cars and it seems more concerned with giving Scott Frost a one-year show cause because an analyst did some “coaching”? The absurdity is frustrating and comical at the same time.
Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice also talk about the recent transfer portal addition for the Huskers. There is a lot of hype, but can the players live up to it?  Really, only time will tell.
