2022 Episode 14: Luke Reimer and Nick Henrich Talk NIL and ABM
Saturday May 28, 2022
Saturday May 28, 2022
Name, image, and likeness have changed college athletics drastically. However, one of the most significant changes that we like is the accessibility to student-athletes and their ability to come on podcasts like ours.
We did NOT pay Luke Reimer and Nick Henrich to be on this episode, for the record. However, they are in the studio with Gerrod Lambrecht from ABM, a branding and marketing firm representing Nebraska student-athletes.
In this edition of the Doc Talk Podcast Presented by Betfred Sports, Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice have an entertaining conversation with Reimer, Henrich, and Lambrecht. We talk a lot about the NIL process, how it works with Nebraska student-athletes, and its impact in the locker room, if any. And what are these guys spending their money on?
Don't worry; we also talk about the upcoming football season and the pressure with it. Of course, players don't need to be reminded, but we do anyway, that they need to win and win now!

2022 Episode 12: Mark Emmert Leaves A Mess Behind
Saturday May 07, 2022
Saturday May 07, 2022
Dr. Rob is clean-shaven, for now! During the month of May, he will be growing a mustache to raise money for Mustaches for Kids! It may sound a bit absurd but this charity has raised over $4.7 million for various charities that benefit kids since 2009. This year the money raised is going to Kids Can and Child Saving Institute. You can help Dr. Rob get to the top of the leaderboard by donating to his campaign, just click HERE. We will be giving growth updates periodically on Twitter.
Lots to cover and lots to drink in the latest edition of the Doc Talk Podcast. We know a lot of you are sick and tired of us talking about NIL which is now really just pay for play. The NCAA is now considering action against teams that a blatantly breaking the rules and setting standards for NIL moving forward. But is now the time to do it? NCAA President Mark Emmert announced he was stepping down. Under the leadership of Emmert, the NCAA in our opinion and that of many others has been a complete joke! Should the NCAA wait for a new President to take action or should it reign in what is currently out of control?
Nebraska gets slapped on the hand by the NCAA. Really? We have players getting million-dollar deals and fancy cars and it seems more concerned with giving Scott Frost a one-year show cause because an analyst did some “coaching”? The absurdity is frustrating and comical at the same time.
Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice also talk about the recent transfer portal addition for the Huskers. There is a lot of hype, but can the players live up to it? Really, only time will tell.
We drink a couple of different beers in this edition. Some from South Dakota and some from Wisconsin. Thanks to our loyal listeners for sending us these fine brews. If you think we are missing out on something good to drink, let us know!
Speaking of great craft beer. The next recording of the Doc Talk Podcast will be Tuesday, May 17th at Kros Strain Draftworks at Millwork Commons! Join us on location and have some fun with us.
We will start recording at 7:00 and we will be there until at least 9, probably a little longer.
Not only is it a great time to drink great, local craft beer from Kros Strain, but it’s also a good opportunity to scope out your hangout for the Big 10 Baseball Tournament and the College World Series. You will find out as we have, Draftworks at Millwork Commons is perfect.

2022 Episode 11: Adam Carriker Unfiltered
Saturday Apr 16, 2022
Saturday Apr 16, 2022
Former Husker Adam Carriker is known for being open, honest, and telling it as he sees it on his podcast and his “Carriker Chronicles” videos for the Omaha World-Herald.
Dr. Rob has been a guest on Adam’s podcast so we thought it was time to invite Adam to Doc Talk.
Besides football, we go in deep and discuss Adam’s recent health scare. The lesson learned here is don’t wait to go to the doctor! Be we dive deeper into other issues as well including former players feeling “welcome” within the Nebraska football program. Athletic Director Trev Alberts says he wants all former players to feel welcome back, no matter who their coach was. Dr. Rob and Adam give their own personal experiences on the subject.
We do talk a little about the Spring Game as Adam’s love for professional wrestling!

2022 Episode10: Spring Game Preview
Wednesday Apr 06, 2022
Wednesday Apr 06, 2022
Full disclosure, Dr. Rob will not be at the Spring Game on Saturday. He will be watching closely on TV where he can rewind and watch plays over and over again.
Dr. Rob says to keep an eye on the offensive line and special teams. Dr. Rob knows the new offensive scheme will get all the oohs and aha, but a Spring game is not the place to gauge how much progress has been made. That will come with real competition in the fall.

2022 Episode 8: 1st Week of Spring Practice and Fan Survey Results
Sunday Mar 13, 2022
Sunday Mar 13, 2022
The results are in! Over 21,000 fans responded to the fan experience survey for Memorial Stadium. Everything from seat comfort, to alcohol sales, and gambling. On this edition of the Doc Talk podcast, Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice go through the survey results page by page and give their opinion on the results.
The first week of Spring practice is in the books. All eyes are on Casey Thompson and the quarterbacks. However, it's what Scott Frost said about the offensive line that has Dr. Rob paying attention. Also, the one thing that coach Frost said that gives hope that he's no longer treading water as a head coach, there seems to be some breathing room with assistant coaching hires.
Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice are hitting the road! They will be in Grand Island on Monday, April 18th. The Platt Deutsche Ball Room is located at 1315 West Anna Street. 2022 Episode 7: Sitting Down with Joe Moglia
Sunday Feb 27, 2022
Sunday Feb 27, 2022
Joe Moglia has a lot of things to say about the NCAA, name, image, likeness, and the transfer portal. The Doc Talk Podcast is the perfect place for him to speak freely and unfiltered. The former Coastal Carolina Head Coach recently penned an article for Forbes where he discussed whether or not the NCAA should break up. You can read it by clicking HERE. This podcast goes from 0 to 100 in about 30 seconds and keeps the pedal to the metal for almost an hour and a half.
Moglia’s college football coaching career is unlike most everyone in the profession. Back in the 80s, he had a choice to make; move his family to Miami to be an assistant and possible Defensive Coordinator for the Hurricane. Or take a job with Merrill Lynch and start making money to support his family. At the time, assistants were barely making enough to put bread on the table, let alone a roof over your head.
Moglia made the right choice. After 17-years at Merrill Lynch, he became the CEO at TD Ameritrade. He would become Chairman in 2009 until Charles Schwab acquired the company in 2020. At close, the combined company was worth $100 BILLION with client assets of $7 TRILLION. When Joe arrived, these numbers were $700 million and $24 Billion.
Moglia never lost the itch to get back in the football game despite his magic with leading teams and companies in the financial markets. So in 2008 he took an internship, so to speak, with Bo Pelini and the University of Nebraska. That experience fueled his fire to become a college head coach.
In 2012, Joe became the Head Football Coach at Coastal Carolina, and in his first five seasons, his teams went to the National Playoffs all five years, and he was Conference Champion 4 times. His overall record was 56-22 for a .718 winning percentage. In his last 11 years of college coaching, he was a part of 8 championship teams. He has also received multiple Coach of the Year honors, including the Eddie Robinson National Coach of the Year award. In addition, he was the recipient of the Vince Lombardi Award and was inducted into the Lombardi Hall of Fame. He was also selected to the Big South Conference All-Decade Team.
Moglia lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and the weather is almost perfect! He is no longer on the Chanticleers sideline. He is Chairman of Fundamental Global Investors and Capital Wealth Advisors and Chair of Athletics, and Executive Advisor to the President at Coastal Carolina University.
