2019 Episode 17: Dr. Rob Says The Nebraska Offense Sucks
Monday Oct 07, 2019
Monday Oct 07, 2019
Yes, Nebraska is 4-2. That's a lot better than it was a year ago. But on this edition of the Husker Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy, Dr. Rob Zatechka offers and unpopular opinion, he believes the Huskers offense sucks. Yes, you are reading this right, and when you listen to the rest of the podcast, he goes into the reasons why he has come to this conclusion.
Despite not having an offense that is going to strike fear into opposing defenses, Dr. Rob says Nebraska should beat Minnesota this weekend. Looking at the Golden Gophers, Dr. Rob sees a lot of smoke and mirrors with Minnesota. If the Gophers are rowing their boat, it's against the stream, and their luck is about to run out.
As the Huskers get ready for Minnesota, they could be playing with a back-up quarterback. Noah Vedral is prepared to start if Adrian Martinez is still nursing his knee. Dr. Rob gives his diagnosis and prognosis on Martinez and what he expects if Vedral does get the start.

2019 Episode 16: Is Adrian Martinez Thinking Too Much?
Tuesday Oct 01, 2019
Tuesday Oct 01, 2019
Has the Ohio State hangover subsided yet? In this edition of the Husker Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy, Dr. Rob Zatechka says don't sweat this loss too much. Why? Because the Buckeyes just had better talent, there's no other way to look at it.
Did the loss look bad? You bet. Can things get better? Yes. Now Dr. Rob goes into detail of what he expects the rest of the season, here's a hint a total seven maybe eight wins.
Also, what about Adrian Martinez? Dr. Rob agrees that something isn't right, and he gives his professional diagnosis what the sophomore should do in the offense. Here's a hint, it has a lot more to do with instinct than following a set of checks and progressions.

2019 Episode 15: Talk Football and Beer, Not Religion!
Tuesday Sep 24, 2019
Tuesday Sep 24, 2019
The message after last weeks episode is loud and clear from many listeners, talk football and beer, stay away from religion. On this edition of the Husker Doc Talk Podcast presented by The Rimington Trophy Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice address their critics and then dive into what happened at Illinois and move onto the Ohio State showdown.
Nebraska has a unique opportunity Saturday against the Buckeyes. All eyes will be on the program with ESPN College Gameday in town, this kind of exposure is exactly what Scott Frost, Bill Moos, and Ronnie Green want and need. But there's a catch, you have to go out and perform. Does last years 4-point loss in Columbus translate into a close game in Lincoln? Twitter traffic might have that optimistic view but Dr. Rob's diagnosis is much different and he addresses it in this episode.
To prepare for a discussion on Ohio State, Dr. Rob has been watching lots of game action, mostly from the Illinois and Northern Illinois games. He breaks down what he is seeing in great detail and offers both words of hope and of concern.
We've talked about "The Athletic" on this podcast before. There is a great article on the recruitment of Andrian Martinez and who Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day passed on him. You have to subscribe to read the article, but right now you can get 40% off a yearly subscription price! The best part of The Athletic is you get everything! CFB, NFL, MLB, NBA, you name it, it's there.

Tuesday Sep 17, 2019
Tuesday Sep 17, 2019
You never know what the topics of discussion on the Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy.
One can make the safe assumption that Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice will talk about Nebraska's win over Northern Illinois, and its upcoming game with Illinois. But Infusion Brewing beer can play tricks on the mind if you drink enough of it. So on the edition, you might hear their thoughts on UFOs and even ghosts.
Don't worry; it's not all science fiction and horror stories. Dr. Rob does breaking down the offensive line and what he liked and didn't like in the win over Northern Illinois. Also, does a blowout win mean the tide has turned for the rest of the season, or are fans merely looking at a mirage?

2019 Episode 13: The Colorado Loss and The Changing Approach To Journalism
Tuesday Sep 10, 2019
Tuesday Sep 10, 2019
The immediate reaction after the Huskers overtime loss to Colorado was all over the board. Some fans were ready to throw in the towel, others claiming it was par for the course, and others understand that the turnaround takes time.
We cover a lot of ground on this edition of the Husker Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy. So much so that we have added another voice to the conversation.
Dr. Rob and Travis Justice have talked about their love of The Athletic on this podcast many times. They believe the website is changing sports journalism for the better. It's not a knock against newspapers, its that The Athletic is taking a different approach, one that is subscription-based and advertisement free.

For this weeks conversation on losing to Colorado, Mitch Sherman, the Nebraska writer for The Athletic joins us in the studio. Mitch has written for the Daily Nebraskan, Omaha World-Herald, and ESPN.
Mitch shares a beer with Dr. Rob and Travis but doesn't drop any f-bombs! (He hasn't been on the show enough, maybe if he comes back we can get him to swear). There are some in-depth discussions about the Colorado game, also we talk about position groups, and what to expect as the year progresses. Remember, Dr. Rob has been saying all long that nine wins would be huge! Hell, Bill Moos said six wins!

2019 Episode 12: It's Not As Bad As It looked
Wednesday Sep 04, 2019
Wednesday Sep 04, 2019
Sorry, we are late! We promise the edition of the Husker Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy will be with the wait.
The Huskers open the season with a win over South Alabama. However, the game wasn't a blowout, and the offense struggled at times, so many people started freaking out. Dr. Rob Zatechka is here to talk you off the ledge. His medical advice, take a deep breath, it was only the first game of the season.
The offensive line did not resemble the pipeline of the '90s and Center Cam Jergens making his first start at the position. This performance caused alarm with a lot of fans who were critical of the Redshirt Freshman. Dr. Rob knows the frustration, but after taking a second look, he says stop thinking short term and look a the long term payoff and upside that Jergens brings to the position.
Colorado is coming up on Saturday; this is a game Husker fans have had marked on the calendar for a long time. Chad Carr from Ticket Express expects Folsom Field to be a sea of red. There is no love lost between the two programs but is it a rivalry? Saturday's game is the 71st meeting between the old Big 7, Big 8, and Big 12 foes, Colorado has only one 19-times, and there have been two ties in the series. The "rivalry" was at its best from 1988-1995. Sprinkle in the beat down in 2001, and the Buffs don't have that much to brag about do they? Dr. Rob shares his thoughts on the series and what he likes about playing it.

Monday Aug 26, 2019
Monday Aug 26, 2019
Are you ready for the season to kick-off? In today's 24/7, 365-day news cycle it can seem like an eternity between the end of football season and the beginning of a new one. Hell, this is our 11th podcast of 2019, and there hasn't been a game played yet.
The wait is over! The Husker take on South Alabama on Saturday. Now ask yourself, are you excited to see South Alabama or are you just happy to get the season started and start looking toward the Colorado game? Dr. Rob has some thoughts.
Dr. Rob Zatechka was a captain his senior season; he weighs in on the responsibility of the honor as Nebraska named its captains for 2019 last week.
Also, Dr. Rob has some thoughts on the "alternative" uniforms the Huskers will wear in 2019, here's a hint, he's not a big fan.

2019 Episode 10: Does Nebraska Have Meaningful Gameday Traditions?
Monday Aug 19, 2019
Monday Aug 19, 2019
Sports Illustrated recently put out its top 10 college football traditions. Nothing at Nebraska made the SI list. This topic got Dr. Rob Zatechka and Travis Justice thinking, does Nebraska HAVE any gameday traditions of significance? Anything the team or fans do that can get them closer to that top 10? After all, Nebraska is one of the all-time winningest programs in college football history; it has to have some great traditions, right?
On this edition of the Husker Doc Talk Podcast presented by the Rimington Trophy, we dive into traditions, those that made the SI list an those that did not.
Also, Dr. Rob takes lots of listener email questions. He spends a lot of time discussing his favorite position group, the offensive line. Is the talent and depth there to take the Huskers' offense to the next level?
